My aim is to make pots that are aesthetically pleasing but which can also be used, so in effect my work is a fusion of creativity and function.

An on-going fascination with pottery from ancient history coupled with frequent visits to galleries and studios have provided artistic inspiration. This has helped generate new ideas and has been the impetus for my experiments with form and colour and it is this personal journey of discovery which I believe is an essential part of the creative process.

My pieces have simplicity of line and exhibit precision in their making.  I use glazes which produce a subtle variegation of colour and break on the scraffito lines of the decoration, thus providing tension and contrast on an otherwise smooth surface.

The online galleries highlight an extensive range of decorative bowls, some scraffito decorated, others with incised rims; jugs ranging from typical pitchers to tall, narrow forms with pronounced lips; and also functional domestic ware including casseroles and serving dishes.

My work is all hand thrown in white stoneware and fired in an electric kiln.
